Media Advisor

Our client based in the Adelaide CBD is seeking a Media Advisor to build and maintain the company’s reputation by implementing effective and timely media strategy that shares the company story with its audiences, as well as providing issues management and communications advisory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop positive news stories and media strategies to build reputation amongst stakeholders
  • Draft effective media materials such as media releases, talking points, backgrounders, social media content, speeches and scripts, and facilitate their approval and release
  • Capture, and manage the procurement and delivery of dynamic photo and video content for use across channels, and for supply to media to enhance news stories
  • Organise and contribute to management of media events to promote projects and support announcements
  • Work with the business to provide advice on management strategies for issues, to ensure they are customer-centred and reduce the likelihood of them generating media interest
  • Maintain a sound understanding of the South Australian media environment, as well as trends in news reporting and production
Skills and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or appropriate related discipline
  • Experience as a media relations, communications or marketing practitioner, or journalist
  • Demonstrated record of identifying positive news stories and proactively generating media content that supports business objective
  • Experience preparing spokespeople to achieve successful interview outcomes
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce effective media materials such as media releases, talking points, speeches and scripts
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to provide advice to senior stakeholders and influence outcomes
Key Requirements
  • MUST have a valid current National Police Clearance
  • Must be willing to work on call roster for one week every 5/6 weeks
