Management Accountant

The Opportunity 

The Management Accountant is primarily responsible for timely and accurate processing of transactions in the organisations finance system including service provider invoices and general ledger journals, database management, debt recovery and general ledger and debtor account reconciliation. This role assists in monthly finance reporting to the board, and data analysis of existing information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure supplier invoices are paid within established timeframes
  • Ensure invoices and requisitions for goods and services verified for accuracy prior to payment
  • Ensure all paid invoices are tax compliant and all invoices are approved in accordance with organizational procedures and delegations
  • Ensure bank reconciliations are completed at least weekly and resolve queries
  • Provide end to end payroll including processing, reviewing and following up on reconciliations monthly
  • Extract and compile data from various database systems to create reports and assist with audits where required
  • Assist in the completion of month-end accounting tasks including journals, liability and accrual calculations and reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end reports including balance sheet, profit and loss, and other reports as required
  • Analyse and report on database information within business systems when requested
  • Support service delivery by being a resource for queries and support regarding customer budgets and quoting
  • Ensure any cancellations and inconsistencies are responded to efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure inquiries are managed in a positive, consistent, helpful, and timely manner within the boundaries of person-centered practice
  • Effectively communicate with external stakeholders when required and always ensure customer satisfaction
  • Purchase goods and services on behalf of staff in line with the relevant policies and procedures
  • Assist with database management, including rostering, managing billing issues and resolving any anomalies
  • Complete ad-hoc administration duties as required
Skills and Experience
  • Diploma in Accounting or higher
  • Creative and logical thinker in resolving problems and issues
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer literacy, including specialist finance packages
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word (Advanced level preferred)
  • Ability to interact proactively with management and staff across all levels of the organisation
  • Customer service orientation
  • Demonstrated time management and ability to work to deadlines skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to use initiative
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant accounting standards
  • Ability to respond decisively to a variety of situations and / or issues based on sound knowledge and experience
  • Relevant experience in financial management
  • Experience in manipulating large spreadsheets
  • Data analysis
  • Knowledge of accounting packages
