Business Development Manager – FMCG

Careerlink People Solutions have partnered with Barossa Fine Foods, an authentic generational South Australian brand producing some of the finest, sustainably farmed products across the state.

This quality-focused organisation has 15 retail stores across 5 brands – Barossa Fine Foods, Angelakis Brothers Seafood, Standom Smallgoods, Schultz Butchers and The Cheesemonger with products manufactured at their facilities in Edinburgh North.

The Role

As part of the Sales team, this role is responsible for driving business growth and cultivating strategic partnerships with FMCG accounts across Victoria.  The role involves interstate travel and has a key focus on multi-store operators, distributors, and selected independent stores.

This is a remote role based in Melbourne, Victoria, and is instrumental in ensuring that Barossa Fine Foods stands out in the marketplace as a leader in its field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive business development strategies to penetrate and expand market share with FMCG customers and distributors
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential opportunities and trends in the meat, seafood, and smallgoods sector within the FMCG industry
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders with target accounts, collaborating to provide tailored solutions to client needs
  • Drive sales growth by actively pursuing new business opportunities and managing the entire sales cycle, achieving sales targets within your designated portfolio
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align product with market demands, ensuring a seamless integration of innovative solutions into client offerings
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for interstate expansion
  • Provide regular and accurate reporting on sales performance and market trends, and analyse data to make informed recommendations for continuous improvement in sales strategies
Skills and Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field/equivalent workplace experience
  • Previous sales and account management experience
  • Ability to leverage existing relationships within the independent FMCG sector across VIC, NSW and ACT
  • Strong understanding of the FMCG sector and its distribution channels
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office with experience in CRM systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of consumer and market trends
  • Proven negotiation, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing customer and business needs
